Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, otherwise known as E.P. Carrillo, is a well known figure in the world of cigars. His journey began in the 1970s when he worked in the cigar industry alongside his father in their family’s El Credito cigar factory in Miami’s Little Havana. It was during this time that he launched the La Gloria Cubana brand. La Gloria Cubana became a beloved name among cigar enthusiasts, known for its rich flavours and expert construction.
In 1999 Ernesto left El Credito and founded a brand in his own name, E.P. Carrillo Cigar Company. He quickly gained recognition for his dedication to crafting premium cigars of exceptional quality.
In 2009, Ernesto decided to sell the La Gloria Cubana brand to General cigar company. This allowed him to focus entirely on his own venture, E.P. Carrillo cigar company. This move marked a new chapter in his career, giving him the freedom to explore his creative vision without anyone holding him back.
Under the E.P. Carrillo brand, Ernesto continued to produce exceptional cigars, using his decades of experience and expertise. His blends often feature a combination of tobaccos from various regions, carefully selected and aged to perfection.
Over the years, E.P. Carrillo has released numerous successful lines, including the legendary E.P. Carrillo Encore, which received the prestigious title of Cigar Aficionado’s Cigar of the Year in 2018. This accolade has cemented Ernesto's status as one of the industry's most talented master blenders.
Today, E.P. Carrillo cigars continue to be highly sought after by aficionados worldwide, Many of their cigars have won awards including the Pledge range.
