Partagas Cigars

History

The brand was founded by Don Jaime Partagas y Ravelo, who owned some of the best tobacco plantations in Cuba. His dedication to innovation, including experimenting with fermentation techniques and introducing the use of a lector to read to factory workers, helped establish Partagas as a leader in Cuban cigar craftsmanship. After his death in the 1860s, the brand passed through several hands, eventually being acquired by the Cifuentes family in 1900. By the mid-20th century, the Partagas factory had become one of Cuba’s largest cigar exporters - a legacy that continues today at the Francisco Perez German factory in Havana.
