History

Founded in 1973 through a collaboration between Cubatabaco and the French state-owned tobacco company SEITA, Quai d'Orsay was designed to appeal to the French palate. Its original hallmark was the use of lighter-shaded wrappers (Claro Claro), which mirrored cigar fashions of the 1970s. Although these have since been discontinued, the brand has retained its reputation for refinement and light sophistication. The name itself is inspired by Paris’s Quai d’Orsay boulevard, home to both the French Foreign Ministry and SEITA headquarters.
