Meerapfel - Honduran

Meerapfel as both a brand and family name has a vivid history in the cigar industry dating back to the 19th Century.

In 1876, the first Meerapfel factory was opened in Untergrombach, Germany by Meir Meerapfel. Since this, their journey has taken the family name across the world for the finest tobaccos. The journey for expansion started in the 1920s as Maier’s youngest son, Ernest, travelled to Indonesia and returned with tobacco leaves which have become some of the most sought-after in the world: Sumatra and Java.

By 1933 Meerapfel became one of the most important importers of cigar wrappers in the world!
