Nostrano del Brenta are hand finished cigars and are the only cigar brand produced in Italy, which is from entirely Italian tobacco. Other cigars contain a lot of Kentucky tobacco imported from the US.
The Nostrano del Brenta tobacco is unique to the Veneto (pronounced VENNETTO) region of northern Italy, of which Venice is the capital. There is just 1 harvest a year given the European climate.
The tobacco is reputedly from Cuban seed brought by a monk into Italy around 1550. The tobacco is recorded to have been produced for smoking from 1763.
Whats not to like about these cigars? Mild but packed with character and gentle flavours that are reminiscent of warm summer days, fresh hey, fresh baked bread, brewing coffee and burnt caramel. Nothing intense, its all about hints and nuance. Texture is nice, draw is spot-on and if you have the time to enjoy the whole thing at once then there is well over an hours enjoyment in there. On the flip side, snip it in the middle and enjoy it twice; win - win! 😁 I am totally sold on the uniqueness of the Italian Nostrano cigars, good any time, any where.
The illustration is deceptive, but in a good way: this was a larger, chubbier cigar than Id expected. Burns evenly with a flaky outer ash and a more compact interior that forms a glowing, bullet-like point. An excellent affordable daily smoke. It lasted me fifty minutes.
I actually prefer these to the Nostrano del Brenta Il Doge. For me the flavours are a little more full and well defined making this my new favourite Italian offering from CGars. Flavour is consistent, warm notes of leather and seasoned wood, fresh hay and loam. Hints of nutty caramel transform into Italian coffee and quality tobacco. This is a cigar to kick-back with, feet up, after a good meal and toasting your toes by an open fire.
