Nose: Smoky and sweet with notes of barbecue sauce, grilled meat, and hints of figs and brine but just that, hints. They do not overpower the nose but instead give hints of a gentle strength. Palate: Well integrated smoke mingles with prominent cocoa, just a touch of seaweed giving this heavily Sherried malt a sense of place and plenty of cinnamon spice. Finish: Long. Initial dark Christmas cake with coal ash soon come through and make the finish.
