| The three new sizes (vitolas)
from the Trinidad brand were launched on Monday 10th November at the London Park
Lane Hilton. A wonderful dinner was enjoyed at 'Windows Restaurant' at the top of the Hilton overlooking splendid views of London. Each of the new cigars were tried and enjoyed over the course of the evening and the consensus of opinion from my table of invited guests was: - Excellent appearance and wrapper quality- Perfect construction - Medium to full strength - Very spicy, full flavour and full body - Delightful aroma - A touch young but still a good smoke and destined to become a great smoke Delightful food, wine, cognac, cigars and of course the best of company....... Who could ask for more?! Cabaret was provided by a ventriloquist with a monkey smoking a cigar (!) as well as the comical opera singers from Black Orpheus. The UK market is the first to receive the new Trinidads and I understand they will not be available in other countries until next year. In our opinion the first batch of any new cigar is always the best in terms of blend, consistency and quality, so its likely that the UK has once again received the cream of the crop. Remember the original batch of Trinidad Fundadores? The blend was entirely better than the Fundadores of today. These first English Market Selection new Trinidad vitolas may even become collectible in the future. They certainly have a heavy weight blend that is perfect for long term aging. Our thanks to Hunters & Frankau, the exclusive UK importers of Havana cigars, who put together the most wonderful evening. Thanks to my guests who included David, Anne, Alex, Samantha, Pat, Casper, Peter and Debra (!) who I understand had as much fun as I did testing out the new cigars.
