As with many cigar makers, La Unica Dominican Primeros came from humble beginnings. Before the cigar boom more than twenty years ago, J.C.Newman Cigar Company founder Stanford J. Newman challenged his friend Carlos Fuente Sr to create a rich, flavourful, superb tasting cigar and package it in cellophane as boxes were costly. Until that time, factories only packaged their seconds in bundles.
Carlos selected the sizes and Stanford gave his approval to the blend. A combination of Cuban seed Dominican long filler tobaccos specially aged for maximum flavour and smoothness. The blend is then skillfully hand-rolled with a light Connecticut shade wrapper or a dark maduro Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. Carlos fulfilled Stanford’s vision and within six months La Unica because the #1 selling premium bundle cigar in America.
Today La Unica still uses the original blend from 1986, still providing people from all over the world smooth rich flavours and preserving the history of the brand. Today these cigars have moved on from bundles and are now packaged in cedar cabinets of 20. Imagine a velvety beginning with hints of sweetness and fruit, that is what you will find in these cigars. It develops into a nutty, creamy and rich flavourings, which are great for everyday smoking but far from your ordinary smoke.
