Top 8 Staff picks

Longrow Peated - 70cl 46% - One of the least know peaty malts in Scotland, but one of our favourites, the ever-unassuming Longrow satisfies and rewards with equal measure. Produced at Springbank distillery in Campbeltown, Longrow is so-named to separate it from the usual modestly peated output of that first-class distillery. This is more earthy than saline, with bracken and mossy notes to balance the delicious sweetness of American oak.

Glenallachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 7 - 56.8 70cl - This release has been matured in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry puncheons, Rioja barriques, and virgin oak casks and bottled un-chillfiltered at 56.8% ABV. Described as having aromas of “heather honey, dried fruit, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange peel, mocha, and treacle,” and a flavour profile of “dark chocolate, figs, heather honey, raisins, cinnamon, plums, and hints of orange zest.” Delicious stuff!

Cabal No 1513 Aged Rum - 43% 70cl - Developed through the combined input of industry experts, rum aficionados, and consumers, the folks at Cabal Rum came up with No.1513. The final blend comprises aged rums from distilleries in Guatemala, Guyana, Trinidad, Panama, and the Caribbean. These rums are blended and finished in Pedro Ximénez casks, before bottling without chill-filtration and with no added colour.

Stalla Dhu Single Cask Ben Nevis Proven8 - 50% 70cl - Limited release of only 240 bottles! With an ABV of 56.2% this Cask Strength whisky has only been released after being aged for 18 years in Hogshead casks. This outstanding West Highland Malt is one of only 240 bottles from one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries owned by the iconic Japanese Whisky Distillery Nikka, bottled by multi award winning Independent Bottler Stalla Dhu Whiskies.

Nikka Coffey Malt Japanese Whisky - 45% 70cl - While most distilleries use their Coffey stills, named after its inventor Aeneas Coffey, only to make grain whisky, Nikka uses the two Coffey stills at their Miyagikyo distillery to create malt whisky too. The Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky was introduced to their selection of expressions in 2014. Plenty rich and flavoursome, it's a wonderful addition to their fantastic range.

Mount Gay Pot Still Rum - 48% 70cl - Crafted by Master Blender Trudiann Branker, using only rums distilled in double retort pot stills, this release celebrates the way Mount Gay originally made rum for about 200 years. From the distillery’s inception in 1703 until the early 1900s, when a full copper Coffey column was introduced, Mount Gay was a rum made purely in pot stills. Limited to 4,920 bottles

Foragers Soulful Sloe Gin - 30% 70cl - Country Best Welsh Sloe Gin Winner - World Gin Awards - 2022. This bottle of Foragers Sloe Gin is one of a kind. Using hand-foraged native botanicals including the freshest Late Harvest Sloe berries and the purest mountain waters from Snowdonia. Handcrafted from start to finish, the delicate gins change ever so subtly with each batch, reflecting changes in nature.
