Top 8 Blended Whiskies

Monkey Shoulder Original Whisky - 40% 70cl - Monkey Shoulder is an incredible blended malt whisky from William Grant and was once made exclusively from a mixture of three well-respected single-malt whiskies: Balvenie, Kininvie, and Glenfiddich. As demand grew, the brand introduced other whiskies into the blend, with three single malts still comprising the blend for each batch. The blend uses nine casks for each single malt. Hence, the blend is labelled “Batch 27.” The result is a smooth, creamy, supple and very malty Scotch which works deliciously in cocktails.

Roe & Co Blended Irish Whiskey - 45% 70cl - Roe & Co is a premium Blended Irish Whiskey, named in honour of George Roe, a true pioneer of Irish Whiskey. Refined, elegant, and with remarkable depth, a masterful blend of rich malt whiskey and smooth grain whiskey aged in bourbon casks. Presents a creamy and delightfully fragrant nose, followed by notes of soft spice and mellow spun sugar along with warm hints of spiced pears and woody vanilla on the palate. The finish is lingering and gentle, rounded by a light creaminess.

Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year of the Ox - 40% 70cl - This 2021 Chinese New Year Limited release from Johnnie Walker has been intricately illustrated by award-winning artist Shirley Gong. The ox is a symbol of prosperity and growth, celebrating good fortune and great achievements, making this a wonderful quality gift. The liquid does not disappoint neither! On the nose we are embraced by waves of spice, giving way to vanilla and honey aromas. On the palate we are approached by an abundance of caramel and hazelnut followed by dark chocolate notes and a luxuriously long, warming, smoky finish.

Timorous Beastie Blended Malt Scotch Whisky - 70cl 46.8% - The original Timorous Beastie, immortalised in Robert Burns’ famous Scots poem “To a Mouse” was a timid, little field mouse, even so Douglas Laing's Timorous Beastie is most certainly not for the fainthearted. This non-coloured, non-chill-filtered Small Batch bottling is a marriage of appropriately aged and selected Highland Malts, including, amongst others, those distilled at Glen Garioch, Dalmore and Glengoyne distilleries. Inside there’s a medley of vanilla, malted barley, meringue, honey and citrus flavours.

Nikka Days Japanese Blended Whisky - 70cl 40% - A vibrant addition to the Nikka range, Nikka Days is a bright and vivacious blend of malt and grain whiskies from distilleries including both Yoichi and Miyagikyo. Its medium body hosts an array of floral and zesty flavours which mingle effortlessly with an underlying vanilla-toffee depth and a light touch of breezy peat smoke. A fresh and delicate whisky, Nikka Days makes a delicious sipping dram or sits beautifully in a refreshing highball.

Royal Salute 21 Year Old Flagon Blended Whisky & Miniature - 75cl 40% - Launched on 2nd June 1953 as a tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on her Coronation Day. The name of this exceptional Scotch Whisky comes from the 21 Gun Royal Salute, which is fired as a mark of respect for powerful dignitaries. This rich and complex whisky is aged for 21 years in oak casks, then bottled in porcelain flagons. At her coronation, the crown of Queen Elizabeth II was set in rubies, sapphires and emeralds. These precious stones remain the inspiration for the colours of Royal Salute's bottlings..

Suntory Toki Japanese Whisky - 70cl 43 - Suntory, the Japanese drinks giant has blended selected barrels for this no age statement release from Hakushu and Yamazaki distilleries, both malts, and Chita distillery, being a grain whisky. Unlike previous blends from them, this one relies on Hakushu as the main malt, not Yamazaki. The Yamazaki components are aged in both American white oak and Spanish oak casks and the Hakushu in American white oak barrels. A particularly rounded and sweet whisky with a refreshing citrus character and a slightly spicy finish.  You can enjoy this blend as a sipping dram, but we highly recommend serving it in a whisky Highball, where it’s character can really shine through.

Naked Grouse Blended Scotch Whisky - 70cl 40% - Relaunched in 2017 as a standalone brand made from a selection of malt whiskies but without any grain, offering a ‘more robust’ flavour than its predecessor. The Naked Grouse has been made from a selection of malt whiskies, including Glenturret, Highland Park and Macallan, matured in first fill and refill American and European oak casks, and then finished in first-fill oloroso Sherry butts for a further six months. The palate offers notes of fudge, cooked apples and cherries, sultanas, sticky toffee pudding and crème caramel.
