In 1895, after graduating from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Winston Churchill and a fellow officer travelled to Cuba, which was then in a battle for independence from Spain. Churchill spent just a few months in Cuba but this is where he fell in love with cigars. He almost immediately became hooked on one of its most famous products where his favourite brands were Romeo y Julieta and La Aroma de Cuba. For the rest of his life, friends and Havana dealers would send him regular shipments, ensuring he had access to his prized Cubans, even in times of crisis and war. It then becomes known and famous for Churchill to almost never being seen without a cigar.
The size ‘Churchill’ is named after the legendary cigar aficionado Sir Winston, but the timing of its origin is disputed. This was in the late 1940s where Sir Winston was an avid smoker of cigars and of Romeos in particular.
Sir Winston Churchill was a man of many facets. Because of this the Churchill cigar line pays them homage by dedicating a cigar to every one of those, with lots of unique tastes and outstanding complexity.
