Springbank Distillery

Founded in Campbeltown, Springbank Disillery is one of the most traditional distilleries still operating today, they have seen many others come and go whilst they retain their continued success to this day. Springbank Distillery has been operating since 1828 by Archibald Mitchell becoming the 14th licensed distillery in Campbeltown. In the early 1900s the demand for whisky from Campbeltown was so high that most distilleries couldn't keep up and so standards went down and as standards went down so did the demand causing many closures of distilleries, however Springbank never lowered their standards which is one of the reasons the blenders continued to support them. By 1934 there were only two distilleries left, Springbank and Glen Scotia.

Springbank Distillery is the only Scottish distillery to complete 100% of the production on site, with human involvement at every process, this means that every bottle is personally made with care and attention that machinery simply can't do. Springbank is also the only distillery in Scotland who malt 100% of their barley with traditional floor malting technique. Another very impressive part of the process is the upkeep and respect of the equipment, most of their equipment has been used for decades and treated by all staff with the utmost respect, giving the whisky the historical charm along with the highest quality.

Every stage of their process is carefully considered, from the water source around Campbeltown to the heating of their copper stills, to help maintain the flavours created by their predecessors. To top it off they never add any artificial colouring to the whisky which means what you see is what you get and it's never chill filtered, this ensures the natural qualities are present in every sip you take.

The Springbank range includes many different aged whiskies from a 10 year old for beginners to a 25 year old and the flavours vary for each age. At one point Springbank had a 50 year old whisky which later sold to a chinese whisky collector for £50,000.
