The brand was founded by Charles Rattray in 1903 in Perth, Scotland. Charles developed a passion for tobacco at a young age, he established a small tobacco shop in Perth and called it “The House of Rattray”. Charles quickly gained a reputation for his exceptional skill in blending tobaccos. His blends became highly sought after and were considered some of the best in the market.

Initially, the focus was on blending tobacco. However, as demand grew, Rattrays began to offer pipes as well as other smoking accessories. The pipes became known for their high-quality craftsmanship. They are made from the finest briar wood and designed to provide an excellent smoking experience.
After World War II, Rattrays continued to thrive. The company’s commitment to quality as well as creating several innovative designs and finishes, helped maintain their reputation despite the challenges of the post-war economy.

Under the management of Kohlhase & Kopp, Rattrays continues to produce high-quality pipes and tobaccos whilst staying true to the brand’s heritage.
