Britain's top cigar retailer, C.Gars Ltd, has just celebrated the third anniversary of the UK's smoking ban, for it has boosted their business 20 per cent every year since 2007.

“I thought my specialist tobacco sales would be stubbed out after the ban,” said C.Gars Ltd's managing director, Mitchell Orchant, “ but it fanned the flames.

“What the Government hadn't considered was the growing number of cigar aficionados who decided to create a cigar-friendly haven in their home. Also, many cigarette smokers decided to smoke less but smoke better and switched to premium cigars.

“They now chill out in the comfort of their own home with like-minded nicotine companions, and avoid getting lectured by anti-smokers.

“We've had to take on more staff and open two new shops to keep up with the growing demand for premium cigars and smoking-related accessories.

“I'd like to thank the Government for making all this possible.  Without them, we wouldn't have survived the economic downturn.”
