When selecting the appropriate gas for your S.T. Dupont lighter, it’s essential to choose the correct type to ensure optimal performance, longevity, and safety.
S.T. Dupont manufactures several different types of gas refills, each tailored for specific models of their lighters. The most common gas canisters are the Red, Yellow, Green and Black variants. Each of these has a different nozzle and pressure level designed to match specific ignition systems and fuel chambers.
The Red gas is intended for Jéroboam Table Lighter or Cylindrique Table Lighter
The Yellow gas is for Ligne 1 Small, Ligne 2, Long Table Lighter
The Green gas is less common and used for older or more niche models, like Ligne 2 Small and Gatsby.
The Black gas is for the more common lighters like Maxijet, Minijet and Slim 7.

It’s important not to interchange these refills, as doing so can damage the lighter’s internal mechanism or cause inefficient combustion.
Each gas canister is also colour-coded to help prevent mix-ups, and the nozzles are not interchangeable to reduce the risk of incorrect usage. Using the wrong gas can result in weak flames, clogging, or even leakage. For this reason, you should always consult the lighter’s manual or check with an authorised S.T. Dupont dealer before refueling. Using the proper gas ensures the flame performs as intended and maintains the premium craftsmanship that S.T. Dupont lighters are known for.
