Distilled in 2015, this whisky spent its first four years maturing in American Oak from either Heaven Hill or Buffalo Trace, two of Kentucky's most celebrated distilleries, before being transferred into a Ruby Port Hogshead for a further six years of secondary maturation.
Billy Walker, Glenallachie master distiller doesn’t call this finishing he describes this as “secondary maturation” as the whisky has spent longer in the second cask than it would be actually be called Whisky.
The result is a whisky of remarkable depth, complexity and character.
On the nose you will instantly notice the aromas of Cherries and Blood Orange, this is followed by Honeycomb, Caramel and Chocolate Coulis, finishing with Mocha and Brandied Cherries.
On the palate you will taste Rose Petal, Eucalyptus and Baked Orange, this is followed by Honeycomb and Hazelnut Praline. This is all finished with Crystalised Ginger and Cinnamon coated Orchard fruits.
