A bottle of Glen Moray 15 Year Old in a Scotland's Historic Highland Regiments tin.
This tin depicts The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. We estimate this was bottled in the 1990s.
West Brewery was built on the outskirts of Elgin in 1828 and was converted into Glen Moray distillery in 1897.
Like many of its neighbours, the distillery suffered in the slump at the start of the 20th century and closed in 1910.
Nose: Sherried oak, butter toffee and delicate smoke.
Palate: Full-bodied and moreishly sweet. Imagine a spiced dark chocolate alongside a finely oaked wine, intense and satisfying.
Finish: Long and rich, the spice intensifies as the sweetness fades.
Jim Murray has scored this Glen Moray Elgin Heritage Aged 15 Years in Presentation Tin 74/100 in his 2020 Whisky Bible ‘Glen Moray is one of the maltiest drams on God’s earth and at its most evocative in ex-bourbon’
