BUSINESS NEWS RELEASE July 22, 2011

Fuente Fuente Opus X Double Corona wins Cigar Oscar in Las Vegas

Fuente Fuente Opus X Double Corona has just been awarded Cigar Journal's Best Dominican Cigar of the Year award, at the International Premium Pipe and Cigar Retailers Association 79th annual convention and trade show in Las Vegas.

'I'm absolutely delighted that Fuente has received this well-deserved major commendation,' said Mitchell Orchant, managing director, C.Gars Ltd, who attended the awards ceremony.

'I have long thought that the Fuente Dominican brand is the best of the best,' said Orchant, whose company recently signed its first exclusive UK cigar brand distribution – for Arturo Fuente's entire range, 'and this huge award confirms it.'

The trophy itself was redesigned for 2011 to resemble a crystal chaveta, the symbol of the cigar-maker’s art and stands dramatically at an angle on an oval base.

Among the award presentation's audience in LAVO's Italian restaurant nightclub, one of the city's latest hotspots, were many of the tobacco industry’s leading cigar makers, Grammy winner Arturo Sandoval, Hollywood producers, and cigar retailers from around the world.

The ceremony was presented by Cigar Journal’s chief editors, Reinhold Widmayer, and Colin Ganley. Guest presenters included Jorge Armenteros of Tobacconist University, Jose Blanco from the Dominican Republic, and Glynn Loope from Cigar Rights of America.

Seventeen of Cigar Journal's annual awards were announced in Las Vegas, with more to follow at the Inter-tabac in Dortmund, Germany, in September 2011.
