The Bolivar cigar brand was surprisingly founded in Britain in 1901 by José F. Rocha. Production later moved to Cuba, where every cigar is now hand‑rolled at Havana’s iconic Partagás factory. The name Bolivar was inspired by Simón Bolívar, the South American revolutionary hero who played a key role in liberating Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, and Bolivia. Following Rocha’s death in 1954, ownership passed to Cifuentes y Cia, who maintained production at the famous Partagás Factory - a cornerstone of Cuban cigar history. Over the decades, Bolivar cigars have become known not just for strength, but for craftsmanship, heritage, and consistent excellence.
