Casa Turrent cigars have a rich history deeply rooted in Mexican tobacco culture. The brand is part of the Te-Amo cigar family, produced by Nueva Matacapan de Tabacos S.A. de C.V., which was founded by Alberto Turrent. The Turrent family’s beginnings in the tobacco industry date back to 1880 when Alberto Turrent’s great grandfather started cultivating tobacco in Mexico. This makes them one of the oldest tobacco families in Mexico.
In 1963 The Turrent family established their first cigar factory, this laid the foundation for what would become one of the most respected names in the cigar industry. In the 1980’s and 90’s, the family focused on perfecting their craft, experimenting with different tobacco blends, and using tobacco from outside of Mexico. They cultivated high-quality tobacco in the San Andrés valley, known for its incredibly fertile soil and ideal climate for growing tobacco. In the 90s, under the leadership of Alejandro Turrent, the brand gained international popularity. Alejandro became well known for his innovative approach to cigar making, blending traditional methods with modern techniques.
Around the beginning of the 21st century, Casa Turrent cigars kept growing on the global market. The brand became synonymous with high quality, premium cigars made from Mexican tobacco. In 2015, Casa Turrent released its first line of branded cigars - the 1942 range was closely followed by the 1973 range. Both were created to celebrate the birth of Alberto and Alejandro respectively. The 1880 range was released in 2017 and celebrated the very beginning of Casa Turrent. These ranges are very important to the Turrent family and their history.
Casa Turrent continues to innovate and expand its product line, offering a variety of blends that cater to diverse tastes. The brand remains committed to using the finest Mexican tobaccos and maintaining the high standards set by previous generations. Their use of the San Andrés Maduro wrapper is highly prized in the cigar industry for its rich flavour and smooth smoking experience.
Casa Turrent has played a significant role in elevating the status of Mexican cigars on the global stage, demonstrating that Mexico can produce world class premium cigars.
