Tasting Notes: The Wide Churchill is the latest addition by
Habanos S.A. to the Romeo y Julieta brand. Following the success of the
Robusto sized Short Churchill which was launched in 2006, the slightly
longer and much stouter Wide Churchill reflects the current consumer
trend for heavy ring gauge vitolas. The cigars are packed full of
smooth, subtle, medium flavoured aromas which are the trademark of the

enjoyed copious quantities of Champagne and canapes before our summer
vintage cigar auction
The results are being brought to you live as the auctioneers knocks down
the Lots but please treat this list below as ‘preliminary’ and; ’subject
to confirmation’ as the auctioneer is very fast and we can’t always type
as fast as he knocks down the Lots!
We will endeavour to reply to all your email queries as soon as
practical but replies may be a tad slower than usual as my team are all
at an after auction dinner this evening

Senor Anibal Delgado Gonzalez

We are delighted to have a fabulous roller in
our offices this week :-)
Hailing from Havana, Señor Anibal Delgado Gonzalez has been a torcedor
(cigar roller) for more than twenty years. He is classified as a 9th grade
roller – the highest achievable grade and is able to roll every vitola
(size) within the Habanos SA portfolio. He began his career in 1985 at the
Romeo y Julieta factory but now plies his trade at La Corona in the heart of
Havana.
In 2000 he was selected to participate in rolling demonstrations around the
world and so far has visited Guatemala, Argentina, Uruguay, Bahrain, Greece,
Chile and China.

Gotham City Herfing
Just back from a week in
very sunny and hot New York – but this was no vacation
as it was a serious herf and crawl of the best spots for
a smoke in NYC
I think I found them all
! and met up with a lot of old friends and quite a few
new friends along the way.
I must profess to not
really understanding New York’s smoking ban. All I can
say is that there are more places to smoke there than in
London hence I love NY
|
It was a bit of a gangster gathering with my
business partners arriving from all over the world including Ron Morrison
from Robert Graham Ltd, Guy
Hancock from Decent Cigar Emporium and
Drew Panico from LCDH-Merida.
Our first stop in the morning was always
De La Concha for our morning
smokes. I tried a variety of
Davidoff cigars, all of which were well crafted and enjoyable. The
staff at DLC were always very friendly and knowledgeable and this is a great
place to herf whilst watching the world go by. After DLC we would take a
walk through Central Park and have another smoke there.

The Budget 2010 |
Dear Friends,
Take advantage of last few days of 2009 prices as due to the recent Budget
our prices are sadly going to go up from Monday 12th April.
We have now almost sold out of our pre-budget stock and therefore
Need to apply price increase due to increase on duties and taxes.
On an average, price increase is between 3 and 5% on all Cuban As well as
non Cuban cigars, pipe tobacco and any other tobacco products. Stock up
while are pre-budget stock lasts.

HOST AN EVENING OF INDULGENCE
Exclusive evening of fashion, whisky, chocolate, and spa treats...and there's a
terrace for cigar smokers too
East London’s rooftop private members club Eight Moorgate is hosting a unique
evening event on Thursday 25th March from 6pm till late. Guests will step
through the courtyard into the glass lift and be taken up to the sixth floor
Lounge Bar and Library, which will be transformed into a gorgeous showcase of
fashion designers and spas, as well as whisky and chocolate tasting and
appreciation master-classes.
The whisky appreciation masterclass will be hosted by Chris and Mitch of C.Gars
Ltd and Robert Graham Ltd
At the long Lounge Bar, guests will be able to enjoy some jazz step on to the
cigar terrace while admiring the club’s stunning views of steeples and
skyscrapers. |
Showroom 21 will be hosting a number of exclusive fashion designers in a Pop-Up
Boutique space. A capsule collection of handbags will be on show by UK designer
Rocio as well as a stunning vintage collection of classic labels, such as Yves
Saint Laurent, Galliano and Christian Dior. Celebrity jewellery designer Nicola
Pulvertaft will be displaying a range of feminine jewellery and Gucci will be
there with classic handbags made from luxury leather.
There will also be a decadent chocolate masterclass
from award winning chocolatier Paul Wayne Gregory. Paul designs handcrafted
single flavour filled bonbons such as Passion Fruit and Salted Caramel which
show off his talent for marrying the right blend of chocolate with the finest
ingredients. He will be guiding guests through the secrets of his delicious
flavours, which guests be able to taste. Indulgence is everything!
To add a touch of glamour to the evening, Blush Make-Up and City Point Spas are
on hand to transform party-goers with a unique makeover or a tailored
mini-therapy session.

Greetings from cool Havana….sadly that’s cool in
temperature in Havana as it’s been rather wet, windy and not so warm since I
arrived on Wednesday evening.
Around 1000 cigar aficionados, distributors and cigar merchants are attending
the 2010 Festival del Habanos this week and there’s a fabulous atmosphere as
well as a lot of anticipation and excitement for the release of the Cohiba
Behikes that is due to be launched at the gala dinner tomorrow evening
