The first Peterson patents awarded to Peters in the 1890’s would revolutionise the pipe-making world and turn a fledgling idea into what has become the oldest continuously operating pipe-maker in the world.
Peterson are the oldest briar pipe makers in the world, still using hand tools for each and every pipe, and still checking everything by eye.
Since 1998, Peterson have released an annual special edition St. Patrick's Day line, presenting a number of their most popular shapes in a festive, distinctly Irish finish unique to the year.
Their 2023 edition celebrates the 25th anniversary of the special-edition line with an homage to the very first St. Patrick's Day pipe. This year's edition presents the beloved Classic Range shapes in a crisp Sandblasted finish, topped by the same accent of brass and tri-coloured acrylic that dressed their very first edition.
Our New World Cigar of the month for February is the Plasencia Alma Del Fuego Flama.
Plasencia Cigars, the leading producer of premium cigars and the largest producer of tobacco in Central America, was awarded 1st place in a consumer cigar blind tasting held by Manuel’s, one of the finest and most renowned cigar shops in Zürich, Switzerland. The award was conferred for its Alma del Campo Tribu cigar, one of the company's first brand name cigars to be introduced to the market.
Plasencias goal is to use the best leaves of aged tobacco exclusively in their cigars leaving them in the hands of the best collaborators in the fields and artists of the factories.
Plasencia Alma del Fuego radiates passion and highlights the strong character of the volcanic soil that stems from the Ometepe Island. Sun-grown wrappers from the fields of Jalapa Valley were carefully selected, complementing the cigar with a sweet character.
The cigar offers a hint of of spice, complemented by savory notes of tangerine, roasted cashews, and guava wood.
Our Cuban cigar of the month for February is the Montecristo Petit Edmundo.
Montecristo is the best known and probably most appreciated brand of Habanos throughout the world. It forms the benchmark for many Habanos smokers against which other brands are judged.
The original Montecristo range of sizes was composed of a narrow assortment numbered from 1 to 5. Today it consists of a wide variety of vitolas to cover every level of the cigar enthusiast's needs.
Montecristo's perfectly balanced blends are created exclusively with selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone, home of the finest tobaccos in the world.
This cigar delivers a burst of crackling spices and garden herbs and is a true after supper companion. Medium to full flavour mellowed by the heavy ring gauge.
This is where the story began. The first of a thousand pages of pleasure for cigar aficionados across the world and across the decades.
In 1969, as Apollo 11 blasted off for the moon, Davidoff launched its Classic Number One. Christened a Classic and destined to be a classic. This was the iconic format, the panetela larga which defined the Davidoff difference.
Smoothness had reached new heights and new lengths. Here was a cigar which was luxuriously long, slender but mild and aromatic. Indeed, its aromas were instantly recognisable. This was a statement of how Davidoff would do things differently.

The format and blend have been lovingly recrafted by our rollers half a century later. The construction is, as it always was, immaculate from start to finish. Consistency is how we have always rolled.

Each one is a tale with twists and turns, sensations developing like the most compelling of plots.

ROMEO Y JULIETA
Named after William Shakespeare's tragic lovers, the origins of Romeo y Julieta as a Habano date back to 1875.
The brand rose to international fame during the early years of the 20th Century under the direction of Don 'Pepin' Rodriguez, a talented promoter, who was amongst the first to recognise the power of the cigar band. During his hey day no less than 20,000 different bands were used in production.
Winston Churchill became a devotee of the brand. Following his visit to Havana in 1946, his name has not only been commemorated on a band but it has also served to describe the marque's most famous size - Romeo y Julieta Churchill.
BOLIVER
Simon Bolivar was one of the great historic figures of the 19th Century who liberated much of South America from Spanish rule.
The Bolivar brand was created in 1902 and is based today in the Partagas factory which is in the heart of Havana.
It is perhaps not surprising that a Habano named after such a powerful figure is blended to match his might. Bolivar is among the strongest, most full bodied of all Habanos. It boasts an unrivalled richness of flavour in its blend of Vuelta Abajo zone filler and binder tobacco that makes it one of the most sought-after marques amongst experienced smokers.
REGIUS
Exclusive to C.Gars Ltd and Turmeuas we are proud to announce our 2021 addition of the Regius Orchant Seleccion cigars.
The Latin Regius denotes of a ‘King’. We present you a regal smoking experience: to enjoy a hand-made King of Cigars. Gaius Petronius Arbiter (AD27) was a Roman writer and courtier for Emperor Nero who devoted himself to a life of pleasure. Yet far from being an ordinary, vulgar profligate, he became known as an accomplished voluptuary.
Showing capacity for outrageous indulgence, he was looked upon by Nero to be the absolute authority on questions of taste (arbiter elegantiae), especially with the science of alchemy.
In his memory the superb brand of cigars ‘Regius’ was created. The alchemy of cultivating and blending the finest aged tobacco to achieve the best possible taste, an even burning quality and elegant aromas.
DAVIDOFF

The Regius Serie Limitada is the latest edition to be added to the Regius Cigar portfolio. These cigars have matured for over a year and are of limited production. Blended with the finest matured Peruvian tobacco leaf from Tabacalera del Oriente in Tarapoto Peru. They have a ‘Puros’ Filler, binder and wrapper all from Peru. The Peruvian leaf gives the cigar a layer of sweetness. Nuts, cream and butter underpin the cigar, with some chocolate notes and a hint of cinnamon that becomes more pronounced as the cigar progresses.
Gawith Hoggarth long anticipated Christmas blend for 2022 is finally here! Gawith Hoggarth Seasonal Reserve is produced from a mixture of bright, flue cured and dark fired Cavendish Virginia’s, blended with a sweet sun cured Burley leaf that produces a mild and fragrant tobacco blend with very little tongue bite.

The first third is a bit shy in the beginning, this well-crafted perfecto develops and delights with pronounced pepper notes, soon to be counterbalanced by flavours of roasted nuts and cream.
The second third is constantly changing taste impressions which show how complex this cigar is. Leathery notes start to form in the second third, together with hints of coffee and dried fruit.
In the final third the intensity slightly increases in the last third but never overwhelms the palate. An additional cacao sweetness, joined by cedar wood and fresh spice concludes this masterpiece.

In January 2021, the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) unveiled a new Sustainability Strategy that sees the industry committing to reaching net-zero emissions in its operations by 2040.
As part of a $400 million investment, Jim Beam’s Booker Noe distillery in Boston, will increase capacity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50%.
The famous whisky brand Johnnie Walker, owned by Diageo, has been focusing on creating a whisky bottle made 100% PET-free wood pulp for a while now.

Eduardo Plasencia was the pioneer of the Plasencia tobacco family. He migrated from the Canary Islands to Cuba and started growing tobacco in 1865 and thus the Plasencia tobacco legacy was born. Today, the Plasencia tobacco family is in its 5th generation and the decision was made to create a vitola in homage, the Eduardo I.
The Colorado Claro wrapper which comes from the vast Plasencia tobacco library was aged for over 10 years, which results in a smoother smoking experience.
