Willett's Pot Still Reserve is a small batch Kentucky straight bourbon by Willett Distillery, formerly known as Kentucky Bourbon Distillers (KBD).
The Willett Distillery was revived in 2012 after a near-thirty year absence, during which time KBD had established themselves as one of the USA's largest independent bourbon bottlers, with a large number of their brands using sourced bourbon from the neighbouring Heaven Hill distillery.
Matured in white oak casks and bottled at 47% ABV.
This is presented in a pot still shaped decanter.
Firstly, there is a noticeable floral element with a rich nose of corn, leather, tobacco with just a hint of tobacco. Warm rye and a dab of oak also feature.
A subtle heat and lack of an after-bite on the finish combine to make this Willet Pot Still reserve, one of the smoothest bourbons around.
