Tasting Notes

Sun-Drying this bean with a little bit of its fruits left on, naturally infuses the beans with some of the fruits sweetness. In the aroma and the taste, you can feel hints of the sweetness that the sun wouldn't let escape. Honey-Bear is out current RESERVE coffee with only 500 bags made. Honey-Bear Reserve has our Reserve Roast and is available in whole bean.

My first coffee review and you'll have to bear wih me (I can only comment on the smells and tastes with those i can associate with). The dark chocolate velvety beans give off a rich earth and bitter dark chocolate aroma. There's a little warmth to the beans' aroma like a warm rubber but it's only a sense and not an actual smell. Post-grind and the notes are predominantly earth and freshly planed sapwood. And I get a little grilled sardine, again it's only a sense. I chose to brew my coffee using a espresso stove-top coffee pot. Dark, almot black coffee dripped into the well sugared cup (as suggested on the packaging). The final coffee was smooth and rich with a not unpleasant bitterness. The flavours were rounded off with hints of licorice root and a burnt caramel. Best appreciated black but I tried a splash of milk out of curiosity and it only dispelled the bitterness and added a creamy note to the smooth, burnt, dark toffee notes. A nice strong coffee start to my day sans cigar this time but I will try it again with a short cigar some time soon
