A sherry finished whisky from Tullibardine which was released in 2013 as part of their range of finishes.
Matured firstly in bourbon casks, it then spent some time (12 months) in 500 litre sherry butts, most of which previously held Pedro Ximenez.
Bottled at 43%, the result is something to behold.
Nose: Aromatic with spice and notes of dark brown sugar and toffee apples.
Palate: Cooked fruit, cinnamon and manuka honey before dates and hints of allspice hit the palate.
Finish: Long and creamy with butterscotch and ground almonds.
Overall: A thick and creamy whisky with a spiced, chocolate-y edge.
Jim Murray has scored this Tullibardine 500 Sherry Cask Finish 79.5/100 in his 2020 Whisky Bible.
