TRINIDAD

Trinidad is named after the beautiful 16th Century city of La Santísima Trinidad (The Holy Trinity), listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, which is situated on Cuba’s south coast.

Trinidad, as a Havana brand, dates back to 1969 but for many years, like Cohiba, it was made only as gifts to foreign diplomats. Not until 1998 was it released for general sale and then only in small quantities.

At the start there was only the one size of  Fundadores before more were added through the years (In 2003 three more sizes: Reyes, Coloniales and Robusto Extra and then in 2009 the Robusto T - In 2011 Habanos S.A. announced the withdrawal of Robusto Extras and Robusto Ts from regular production). In 2009 Trinidad’s livery and its cigar band were updated to recognise the prestige that the brand commanded.

For several years Trinidad was made at El Laguito, the Cohiba factory, where its uniquely fragrant and aromatic, medium flavoured blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo region was developed.

By the end of 2004 demand for Trinidad had outstripped the production capacity at El Laguito and it was decided that the manufacture of all the brand’s sizes should be transferred to Pinar del Rio City. It is here that Trinidad is made today close to the famous Vuelta Abajo plantations.

All sizes are ‘Tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally hand made vitolas

MEDIA LUNA

When purchased as a box, these cigars resented in semi boite nature (SBN) boxes of 12, each dressed with a signature pigtail cap, this is a unique size within the Habanos portfolio. Perfect with a a glass of champagne or a classic mojito.

Tasting Notes

89 / 100

"Unmistakably herbal, this cigar also brings a smoke of toast, oak and cedar. There’s a sweet underpinning as well before the herbal notes recur on the finish. The draw is a touch firm, but the burn remains even..."

The WOOOOOORST!! cigar ever I smoked!! Absolute waste of time and money!! I should say- tried to smoke!! Because of its impossible to smoke. Keeping in m ind the price- for sure not worth to take a risk/ gamble. Were are lots of good Cuban and New World cigars in that price range. Very frustrated and dissapointed. From now and forever- Trinidad is on my Black List. I should say this so called brand do not exist to me!! The build- very very bad!! Cigar is very uneven. On one side its stone hard on another/ loose. Almost you can feel open/ unfilled spaces under the wrapper. Feels/ looks like no binder around filler or binder is damaged/ cracked. Not straight cut at the end. Looks like it was turn around for a couple of times to make a cut; The draw- very very very bad. Very awfull!! I like to have a few draws of unlighted cigar. Especially when I try a new for me. Love to feel the taste the smell. The draw itself. Straight away after cutting you realize that the draw is very very very bad. Almost impossible to make. At this point you not realizing how bad it is yet. You will face it after lighting it. The taste- it has no taste no smell. You just cant get it/ feel it. Because you cant make a single draw/ puff to have mouth full of smoke. You have to make 3 to 5 and still will feel no smell no taste no body of the cigar; The smoke- washed out. I know that depending on the tobacco some cigars has very rich/ thick smoke, some has light one. This one has just a left overs of the smoke; The burn- its impossible to keep it lighten up. Because of the very bad/ awfull, awfull, awfull build You are unable to make a draw it keep going down. To be 100% honest- somehow I managed to smoke half of it with five!! FIVE!! FIVE re- lightnings??!! Thats definitely wrong!! For sure- overrated, not worth a single penny and a single minute of your time to try. Stay away as far as you can!!

A really stunning cigar from a well trusted brand. Plenty of Oak notes and plumes of smoke; a lovely evening cigar that pairs well with a quality Cognac.

The Trinidad Media Luna is one of the few cigars that has never disappointed me. The flavours are very similar to several other Trinidad cigars. This and the Fundadores are now some of my all time favourite cigars. Its an incredible smoke and one that I highly recommend.

Less creamy than Vigia but keeping the classic sweet, nuts and oak Trinidad characters. David - C.Gars Ltd Cigar Ambassador

Tried this as part of the Christmas sampler pack. Really nice smoke. With hints of cocoa. Impressed.
