An idyllic, isolated spot in the Scottish Highlands, Tomatin is one of few scotch whisky distilleries to provide homes for its master craftspeople, and is also pioneering new ways to lessen environmental impact
This whisky has spent around 13 years in the finest Bourbon Oak barrels and has spent a year in Portuguese port pipes.
Tomatin's Master Distiller travels the world to source barrels directly from wineries such as the incredibly rare casks previously owned by the Symington family in Portugal.
The result is an excellent dram which is soft and smooth with a port-influenced sweetness.
Presented as a 5cl miniature, perfect to sample the port influence of this whisky before upgrading!
Nose: Orchard fruits, toffee and honey which develops more and more as time goes on before finally, cherry notes.
Palate: Sweet, with nutmeg, walnuts and ripe damsons.
Finish: Smooth fruit salad which lingers on the palate.
