From the earliest times in the 19th century, Talisker has been matured in port casks.
The merchants of coastal Scotland had long been trading with the Portuguese, and those merchants were instrumental in founding the Port wine trade and shipping it to the world.
Talisker has always taken inspiration in what the sea brings. They now take pride in celebrating those Scottish traders with the first release of a Talisker Double Matured in Ruby Port Casks.
Talisker Port Ruighe, named after the main trading port on Skye, combines Talisker’s powerful maritime character with succulent sweet notes of rich berry fruits for a superb contasting tsate experience.
Nose: After a wave of initial sea spray, the nose becomes more complex with Crayola crayons, orange pith and a touch of white chocolate.
Palate: Initial characteristic Talisker brine once again but much sweeter than usual. Thick and mouth coating like the Storm with chilli and a little chocolate orange.
Finish: Milk chocolate becomes cocoa and oak with mocha notes and the faintest hint of that orange pith once again.
