This magnificent Sterling Reserve bottling from the iconic Islay distillery, Bruichladdich, was distilled in 2002 and bottled at the cask strength of 59.5%, after maturing for nothing less than 21 years in American oak, resulting in a liquid of unmeasurable delight and quality!
This exquisite single cask, of only 188 bottles, is elegantly presented in a stunning engraved glass decanter that elevates any connoisseur’s whisky cabinet, with a matching lined, navy blue box and silver details.
Bruichladdich was known for many years as the favourite whisky of Islay’s locals, which is surprisingly unpeated!
The distillery name comes from the Scottish Gaelic 'Bruthach a' 'Cladaich' which means brae by the shore, and it was built in the year 1881 by the Harvey brothers.
With a tumultuous history, the distillery was sold and mothballed many times through the years, until Murray McDavid acquired and modernised it in the year 2000, making this release a unique step back in time to the distillery’s early spirit production, as it remained silent until a year later.
Non chill filtered, natural colour and bottled at cask strength.
Nose: Stewed fruits, ripe banana, sea spray, malt forward, floral notes.
Palate: The mouthfeel paints the palate, embraced by tropical fruits and ginger
pepper spice.
Finish: Lingering, satisfying finish.
