Filey Bay Moscatel Batch 4 Yorkshire Whisky

Filey Bay Moscatel Finish is back, in it's fourth batch iteration. Soft and fruity, it takes the distillery style and adds sweeter orange notes.

What makes it special for Filey Bay? Whilst sherries like Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso are well known in single malt whisky maturation, Moscatel is much more rare and unusual.

Moscatel grapes are known for floral aromas (orange blossom, jasmine and honeysuckle) as well as citric notes like lime and grapefruit.

The grapes thrive in sandy soil and Moscatel vineyards are close to the beaches in the sherry region of Spain – making it a perfect match for our Filey Bay whisky, made here on the Yorkshire Coast.

Filey Bay Double Oak Batch #2 Yorkshire Whisky

The next step of Double Oak Special Release series, Filey Bay Double Oak #2 marries together two distillate styles and is matured in a unique combination of select ex-Bourbon and Virgin Oak casks.

The virgin oak brings fruity and spicy notes, whilst the ex-bourbon casks balance this with vanilla and toffee flavours.

The selection process started with our Whisky Director Joe Clark sampling a cross-section of 100 first-fill ex-bourbon casks.

A handful of these were re-racked at 50% into Virgin Oak casks, and regularly nosed and tasted for 13 months.

Double Oak #1 was awarded a coveted World Whisky Master in 2022 and we're excited to see what this next batch has to offer!
