A pleasant enough flavour profile centred around cedar and smooth tobacco, but the smoking experience was significantly undermined by a persistently tight draw! The No 2 was slightly tight but opened up quickly my. The No 1 was near perfect so I had high hopes for the No 3 as it's a shorter smoke.
Despite smoking into the final third, performance never improved and smoke production remained disappointing. While the flavour was "agreeable", there was insufficient enjoyment to justify the effort required (and the price in this instance). The only way I'd purchase another would be if it came as part of a sampler unfortunately.
Having previously reviewed the Romeo y Julieta No. 3 negatively due to severe draw and construction issues, I felt it was only fair to revisit my opinion after receiving a replacement cigar.
The difference was night and day. The draw was good from the start, smoke production was excellent, and the construction was far superior throughout the smoke. The ash held for around an inch during the first third before naturally dropping, which gave me confidence that this was a much better made cigar.
Flavour wise, I found notes of cedar, toast and a subtle creaminess, with the cigar developing more richness as it progressed. It remained smooth, balanced and approachable from start to finish, providing around an hour of enjoyable smoking time (I'm a slow smoker)!
This experience has completely changed my opinion of the No. 3, and I'd happily keep a few in the humidor.
Many thanks to the team at C.Gars for reaching out and providing a replacement. Excellent customer service and very much appreciated.
