1x 10g Samuel Gawith Brown No. 4 Finest Kendal Twist

Brown No.4 is a full flavoured full strength tobacco made by Samuel Gawith in Kendal.

The tobacco is spun from Dark Fired Virginia's. We would class this tobacco as a slow burning tobacco.

Despite popular belief the brown twist is stronger in strength and flavour than the black twist.

This tobacco is definitely not for those new to pipe smoking!

1x 10g Kendal S-Type RM Twist (Formerly Rum & Maple)

This steamed dark Kendal is dark rich and strong. Using fire cured leaf this tobacco has a complex array of flavours; Smoky, Spicy, Woody, Earthy, Leathery and all the while very smooth and cool to smoke.

1x 10g Kendal S-Type AP Twist (Formerly Apple Irish)

Brown Twist (Apple):
Despite the name "Apple," the base of this twist is a traditional Brown Irish tobacco, subtly enhanced with a sweet apple top dressing. Unlike Black Twist, Brown Twist is not subjected to the additional cooking or curing process after spinning. As a result, it retains more of its natural strength, including higher levels of tar and nicotine. Interestingly, many smokers find Brown Twist to be smoother and less harsh than its Black counterpart. Regardless of preference, this remains a very strong tobacco and is recommended only for experienced smokers.

1x 10g Kendal S-Type AN (Formerly Aniseed) Twist

Dominant Flavor:
Aniseed takes center stage—intense, sweet, and long-lasting. Its character can sometimes lean slightly medicinal or evoke the spicy richness of Perique.

Additional Nuances:
Supporting notes include gentle hints of spice, raw sugar, and fresh-baked bread, along with occasional floral or citrus undertones that add depth and interest.

Tobacco Base:
Built on a robust blend of dark-fired and air-cured Virginias, the base offers earthy, woody, and subtly peaty flavors that anchor the aromatic topping with natural complexity.

Strength:
Kendal Aniseed is known for its full strength—especially in rope or twist form. It's best suited to experienced smokers, as its potency may be overwhelming for beginners.

Smoking Characteristics:
This tobacco benefits from a slow, mindful cadence. Puffing too hard may cause it to burn hot or produce tongue bite. Gentle smoking rewards with a cooler, richer experience.

Room Note:
Often described as tolerable to pleasant, the room note carries a noticeable aniseed aroma. While some enjoy its bold presence, others may find it a bit strong.

Retrohale:
A slow retrohale brings forward the blend’s spicier elements, revealing peppery notes and the darker nuances of the Kentucky leaf.

1x 10g Kendal S-Type BCH Twist (Formerly Black Cherry)

Primary Flavour:
The standout character of this blend is the rich black cherry topping, delivering a sweet, fruity flavor that complements the strength of the tobacco.

Tobacco Profile:
Crafted from a blend of dark-fired and air-cured Virginia tobaccos, the base presents earthy, woody, and subtly smoky (peaty) notes for a balanced and satisfying smoke.

Strength:
Kendal S-Type BCH is notably strong and best appreciated by experienced smokers. Its nicotine content and depth of flavor are not recommended for beginners.

Smoking Experience:
For optimal enjoyment, a slow and steady smoking pace is advised. This allows the flavors to unfold gradually and helps prevent tongue bite, as noted by Turmeaus.

Room Note:
The aroma is often described as tolerable to pleasant, with the sweet scent of black cherry noticeable in the air.

Aftertaste:
The finish is clean, with a lingering sweet and fruity aftertaste courtesy of the black cherry topping.
