The 1990 Vintage is a medium-bodied cigar leaning more toward the milder side with a nutty, caramel essence.

This cigar is highlighted by a 12-year-old Honduran Broadleaf wrapper that has softened in strength over the years yet gained in complexity and flavour.

Written taste test review: Rocky Patel vintage 1990 Torpedo cigar.

Firstly the packaging of the cigar is in a cellophane wrapper, the appearance is an elegant dark chocolate wrapper ranging from 61/2’’ and a ring gauge of 52. The construction of the cigar is slick firm hand made cigar. The aroma is sweet and chocolaty.

The cigar lights and burns perfectly, first draw is easy it has a good amount of smoke, loads of rich smooth flavour slightly oily but not too overwhelming, a mixture of flavour including a sweet nutty taste with an earthy finish not too strong, with a light hint of coffee and coca after taste. The cigar is a medium to full body cigar. So far so good. 1st 3rd in, the flavours have stayed consistent with the same blends of flavour, good amount of ash with an effortless draw with tonnes of coco and coffee flavour, the finish is short with a tiny hint of pepper coming in.

2nd 3rd in, the flavours have still stayed consistent but are becoming more creamier; the main flavours are roasted coco with a short finish of coffee. A Deep liquorice creamy flavour is now becoming the dominate taste, but not too overwhelming. It’s not a strong cigar but it’s a pleasant smoke, the texture is very creamy with the basic elements of coco and coffee.

45mins in, the flavour has changed into a very dry taste of the basic flavour which is still a pleasant smoke and a pleasure to enjoy, the after taste has gone slightly dry leaving the mouth dry with a roasted coffee flavour with a slight earthiness. I would defiantly recommend having a drink of red wine which defiantly compliments and brings out the nuttiness of the cigar.

Overall this cigar is a must have, I would defiantly recommend this cigar to anyone. It produces a range of flavours which you explore, ranging from coco into a nutty after taste, even though this is not a Cuban, don’t be fooled this cigar punches above its weight and costs fairly cheap.
