Quintero’s smooth, medium bodied taste makes it ideal for those seeking to experience the flavour of Habanos at an affordable price.

It is one of the few Habanos brands not born in Cuba's capital city, Havana. Instead its founder Agustin Quintero with his four brothers set up shop in the south coast city of Cienfuegos, known as the "Pearl of the South",

All the tobaccos selected for Quintero's filler blend come from Vuelta Abajo and Semi Vuelta zones. Each Quintero cigar is made using the short filler, totally hand made technique.

A Cuban robusto for a little over a tenner, wheres the catch? Price is not something i think about much when buying a cigar, as I am an infrequent smoker, but although I have old favourites, I like to work my way through a good variety of cigars. Robusto is my favoured size, as it gives a cool easy draw and much of the flavour associated with the larger vitolas, in a more compact smoke. So this was one Id wanted to try for some time, but as with most cigars, a little humidor time can often help bring out the best. Construction is average, but thats not a criticism, as its more than adequate, with quite veiny leaves used in the wrapper and a few minor discolourations. The cap is well attached and youre not going to get any unravelling from making a big cut. Colour is a nut brown and the aroma unlit is of cedar and earth. To the touch this is a slightly spongy cigar, which i felt may be indicative of a loose construction and less tobacco leaves used, so essentially built to a price. It lit easily and first impressions were of ceadar, leather and maybe a slight nuttiness. Those impressions carried through the smoke, with the second third becoming a little more leathery. Draw was fine, not the best Ive experienced, but certainly more than acceptable, with little effort required and plenty of thick creamy smoke. Burn was a different issue, although it was even, it went out quite a bit and the centre burnt quicker that the outside did. which was a little annoying, but not the end of the world, Ive had far more expensive cigars do much worse. On inspection of the leftovers, it appears the outside layers are whole leaves and the inside is a bunch of offcuts, perhaps explaining the burn. I would say that overall this is a good cigar, but lacks any depth and complexity, with the flavours not taking on a different character as you smoke it. Im going to leave the other two I have for a year or two and revisit it then. It wont make my favourites list, by a long chalk but is fine for those days that you want a smoke and dont want to break out the best, but dont expect great things from it.

These have got to be among the tastiest cigars I've tried, and I've sampled quite a few different brands lately. Burn and construction are not exactly of Premier League standards but the nice easy draw and flavour more than make up for it. A competitively priced Cuban alternative to Oliva and NUB. Quintero, why pay more?

Poor construction, poor burn, average taste. I am not impressed in the slightest, and will not be ordering this sad excuse for a cigar again.

An excellent cigar for the price. Took an hour to smoke, with lovely leather taste especially towards the end, no harshness and not an overpowering taste like some of the similar sized ring gauge cigars. I found the burn nice and even. A nice smoke to add to the Humidor.
