QUAI D'ORSAY
Quai d’Orsay was established in 1974 for the French market.
The brand takes its name from the avenue in Paris beside the river Seine that used to be home to the headquarters of SEITA, the then state-owned tobacco importer for France who with Cubatabaco (now Habanos s.a.), joined forces to produce an elegant Cuban brand with a certain je ne sais quoi.
The brand was unveiled in Paris consisting of 5 vitolas: Imperiales, Gran Corona, Corona Claro, Corona Claro Claro and Panetelas. In the late 1970s, the brand was offered to other selected international markets but remained relatively unknown in the UK where only one size, the Coronas Claro was available for a long period of time.
This changed in 2017 when Quai d’Orsay was relaunched at the Habanos Festival in Havana, Cuba sporting a new stylish modern brand identity that retained the spirit and essence of the original branding. Two new sizes were also showcased, the No.50 and No.54, which joined the Coronas Claro, the lone survivor of the original vitola lineup.
Since then, the brand has gone from strength to strength with Quai d’Orsay selected by Habanos s.a. to join the Habanos Limited Edition family in 2019 (Senadores) and by numerous Habanos Distributors around the world to represent their market as a Regional Edition.
NO. 52
In 2022, the Quai d’Orsay No.52 was introduced at a magical evening held in one of the most emblematic places in Paris. The building chosen overlooked iconic French symbols such as the Eiffel Tower and the National Assembly and, of course, the famous Quai d’Orsay Avenue. Like its two counterparts, the No.52 was named after the ring gauge of the vitola which is printed on the band that dresses each cigar.
Classified as light bodied, this is a delicate, well-balanced and thoroughly modern Habanos.
92 / 100
"This toro has a dead-even burn. Salty, woody first puffs develop sweeter, chewier notes of nougat, dried fig and raisin with a touch of chocolate ganache emerging before the toasty finish. Sweet and elegant. This cigar retails for 19.10 euros in France..."
