The first Peterson patents awarded to Peters in the 1890’s would revolutionise the pipe-making world and turn a fledgling idea into what has become the oldest continuously operating pipe-maker in the world.
Peterson are the oldest briar pipe makers in the world, still using hand tools for each and every pipe, and still checking everything by eye.
Since 1997, Peterson have offered a special edition Pipe of the Year: a series focused entirely around one singular shape, often inspired or revived from their archives and presented in a number of their most iconic finishes. 2020's Pipe of the Year was modelled after the original 9BC shape, a design dating to the days of Charles Peterson himself, evolving from the original patent shape.
The 2022 Pipe of the Year is the most exacting and precise reissue of a classic Peterson shape that Peterson have yet to execute. It's an accurate shape rendition of the original 14B Patent as it was produced in their workshop six generations ago. A favourite shape of Mark Twain and many others, it was among the first System pipes introduced by Charles Peterson, originally released in 1896, though 75 years have passed since it last saw production.
Dignified by sterling silver fittings crafted by their own smiths, each 2022 Pipe of the Year features their patented P-Lip design as well as their iconic Peterson wear gap emphasising its historic roots.
Presented in an original Peterson pouch and box.
This pipe has been individually photographed, so that the pipe you see in the picture is the pipe you will receive.
