    MONTECRISTO

Montecristo is the best known and probably the most appreciated brand of Havanas throughout the world. It forms the benchmark for many Havana smokers against which other brands are judged.

The name comes from Alexandre Dumas’ famous novel ‘The Count of Montecristo’, which was a firm favourite when read to the Torcedores (cigar rollers) at the factory where it was founded in 1935.

The original Montecristo range of sizes was composed of a narrow assortment numbered from 1 to 5. Today it consists of a wide variety of vitolas to cover every level of the cigar enthusiast’s needs.

Whether it is within the classic medium-to-full line, the lighter Open Series or the newer, more powerful, Linea 1935, Montecristo’s perfectly balanced blends are all created exclusively with selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone, home of the finest tobaccos in the world.

    NO. 2

If ever one brand has come to dominate a particular vitola, this is it. The classic Piramide or 'torpedo' size. Easy burning with a controlled release of faithful montecristo flavours; many devotees look no further than this.

  • This is a rich and flavourful cigar and it burns very well. A bomb of rich spices including cinnamon and a pleasant sweetness emerges throughout the cigar. A great Havana among fine gauges.

    93 / 100

"Complex and tasty, this torpedo shines with a chocolate-and-vanilla resonance from first puff to last. It’s complemented by notes of almond paste, leather and cinnamon. Balanced and delicious..."

Reviews

Customers say
Customers generally find the Montecristo No. 2 to be a truly exceptional cigar, often hailed as one of the best Cuban offerings, with many praising its rich and complex flavors. However, a notable number of reviewers point out inconsistencies in construction and draw, and some feel it's overpriced or doesn't always live up to its considerable hype.
Ideal for experienced smokers seeking a complex, flavourful Cuban cigar for special occasions, especially if aged, but be aware of potential inconsistencies in draw and burn.

Fantastic cigar. The flavour is exceptional from the start and only gets better. Smoke time vs price point makes this cigar worth it. If smoking solo it could easily go 90min. Therefore one to share with a fellow enthusiast. Will certainly get another for a special occasion.

Montecristo No.2 is perhaps the finest cigar available a true classic. I often buy a box when funds allow and always have some aging in the humidor. An aged Montecristo No. 2 is a real treat, its a giant in stature and quality. Its a complex cigar with full bodied strength, subtlety, and complexity. It has notes of strong coffee with spicey cinnamon, nutmeg, almond, cream, leather and coconut. I wish I could smoke these every day but given the price, theyre a special occasion smoke and a real treat.

This is and always has been the best Montecristo and one of the best cigars out of Cuba rich complex and very moreish... Perfect draw and burn, correcting itself after lightning... lasting over an hour... (never let it go out and never smoke to fast and over heat, both deminish the flavours of all cigars... ) I had this yesterday with Ardbeg which highlighted the orange zest for me, though with coffee itself and the vanilla and complex woods with chocolate and the other complex notes including almond and honey not lost with either beverage, as they wont with whatever you choose with this wonderful cigar, that should be bought by the box to enjoy, but also try and permit some to have at least a couple of birthdays after purchase before sampling...

Writing this review whilst smoking the last of 3 since the lockdown. Its settled down after the light. The burn hasnt been prefect but nothing that didnt self correct, slowing down helped I think and its also let the coffee cool down too. Its one of those scorching hot days weve been having so I wasnt that sure a hot coffee and a cigar were called for. Silly. Its a no2 and it smokes cool with a light smoke and smooth but certain draw. The cedar, pepper, spice are all perfectly balanced with no one aroma overpowering the others. Its hard to know where the coffee ends and the cigar starts. The garden pairties are tuned out of focus and there is relaxation.

Fist one of these consumed yesterday after sitting in my humidor for about 8 months. Was bought as a gift and was waiting for an opportunity to try this as had quite a few of the Diplomaticos No.2 And been very impressed. Have to say this stick wasn’t a disappointment either, great even burn, good draw all the way and a good 1.5-2 inches before losing any ash. Only had to re-light once about 3/4 in after losing majority of ash and sat for a few mins. Will be on the shopping list for next time
