The name Macanudo, originated in Cuba in 1868, originally came from a vitola of the Punch cigar brand – the Punch Macanudo was the most popular size in the United Kingdom for many years. Due to the ‘dollar controls’ during World War II, United Kingdom could no longer import goods from Cuba, and hence the Macanudo shape was made in Jamaica at the Temple Hall Factory.

Macanudo Café as we know it today, was introduced in the United States in the early Seventies of the previous century, where it quickly became the best-selling hand-made cigar.

Every Macanudo Café is hand-made in the Dominican Republic and is wrapped in a Connecticut shade wrapper, which covers an elegant blend of Dominican and Mexican tobacco and a binder that is cultivated in the fertile regions of San Andres Tuxtla in Mexico. Only extensively matured tobaccos are used to ensure that each cigar always has the same familiar, mild aroma.

Every time you light up a Macanudo Café you can rely on the same leisurely and pleasant experience. The Macanudo Cafe produces the same distinctive and characteristic mild fragrance for every smoke.

Reviews

Customers say
Customers generally find the Macanudo Ascots to be a good value, mild cigar, often praised for its pleasant, if sometimes subtle, flavour profile and suitability for a shorter smoke. However, some reviewers frequently note issues with the wrapper's appearance and durability, with cracking or unraveling being a recurring concern, and a few found the flavour a bit bland or harsh compared to other options.
Ideal for those seeking a budget-friendly, mild cigar for a shorter smoking experience, especially as a morning cigar or with coffee, but be aware of potential wrapper inconsistencies.

Light, somewhat creamy but no real stand out flavours. Generally pleasant enough. Wrapper bumpy and veiny. Burned well. What was not great was the cracking and splitting even before being cut which only got worse once lit. Not bad but for me definitely not good enough to buy again.

Okay, Ive now smoked the rest, and Im going to give back one star. Perhaps inevitably, the quality, by which I mean elements such as the wrapper (veiny, lumpy and bumpy) and construction (a bit spongy) did not improve, but Ive found these pair quite nicely with a double espresso, so I may purchase more to accompany my morning caffeine hit.

Bought a few of these to try, as had previously enjoyed its bigger brother, the Hyde Park robusto, and because they are half the price of Davidoff Primeros Dominicans, of which I am a fan. However, for me, they are also half the quality, half as smooth and half the enjoyment. Much harsher and stronger than the Primeros; shall persist through the remainder, but not expecting to revise my initial assessment.

Mild but full of flavour. It start sweet and slowly going into pleasant acid bitter flavour. In the last 3rd every draw start sweet and slowly going on the back of your mouth, For the price and the size its a complex cigar, its mild sure but a cigar doesnt have to be full in strength all the time. I definitely will enjoy more as a morning cigar with a latte. Its a really great cheap option!

Certainly not a bad cigar. Starts of creamy and smooth before developing slightly to caramel flavours. A little bland for my liking, but well constructed and a fairly enjoyable smoke. Got a little too peppery for me halfway down.
