The name Macanudo, originated in Cuba in 1868, originally came from a vitola of the Punch cigar brand – the Punch Macanudo was the most popular size in the United Kingdom for many years. Due to the ‘dollar controls’ during World War II, United Kingdom could no longer import goods from Cuba, and hence the Macanudo shape was made in Jamaica at the Temple Hall Factory.

Macanudo Café as we know it today, was introduced in the United States in the early Seventies of the previous century, where it quickly became the best-selling hand-made cigar.

Every Macanudo Café is hand-made in the Dominican Republic and is wrapped in a Connecticut shade wrapper, which covers an elegant blend of Dominican and Mexican tobacco and a binder that is cultivated in the fertile regions of San Andres Tuxtla in Mexico. Only extensively matured tobaccos are used to ensure that each cigar always has the same familiar, mild aroma.

Every time you light up a Macanudo Café you can rely on the same leisurely and pleasant experience. The Macanudo Cafe produces the same distinctive and characteristic mild fragrance for every smoke.

Being fairly new to smoking cigars I came across this little fella at a really low price so I bought 2. I’ve just tried one in the beer garden in the pub down the road with a pint of Jaipur IPA and I really enjoyed the smoke. It’s a mild cigar but still has some nice sweet tobacco flavours and I got a good 20 minute smoke out of it. Apparently the boss of Macanudo and Punch has one of these dangling from his mouth while visiting the factory floors so it goes to show their appeal as quick and happy smokes. I will be buying a tin soon as they are perfect for my quick smoke needs. I might also try some larger gauge Macanudos for when I require a longer more luxurious smoke. I fully recommend.

Not a bad little cigar. Very nicely constructed with a nice even burn and easy draw. Lasted me about 25 - 30 minutes. Not much flavour, but what flavour i found was proper cigar flavour, if that makes sense. Will let one rest for a year and try again. I recommend trying it at this price!
