  • The 2016 Special Releases bottling of Lagavulin 12 Year Old, celebrating the distillery's 200th anniversary.

    From the essential Islay distillery, Lagavulin, on Islay’s rocky south coast, this Lagavulin is fourteenth in a series of special 12 year old releases from the original distiller’s stocks.

    Aged in refill American oak hogsheads - bottles of this stunning whisky are of limited availability worldwide.
  • Colour: Pale gold with green/grey flashes.

    Nose: Immediate power as smouldering peat is backed by fresh, clean notes. Later, barbecued meats, maple syrup and traces of pine and eucalyptus all appear.

    Palate: Surprisingly mild, smooth and sweet, with balancing salt. Intense and cool, with fruity chocolate at first before warmth and smoke, with cereal, mint and volcanic smoke.

    Finish: Very long and refined; first smoothly cooling, then warming, pungent and smoky with an appetising bitter edge.
