This whisky was released to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of Lagavulin distillery.
This eight-year-old is full bodied and smokey, which becomes rather spicy if you add a drop of water.
Back in the 1880s Alfred Barnard who wrote" The Whisky Distilleries of the United Kingdom" enjoyed an "exceptionally fine" 8 year old Lagavulin.
This fantastic dram was matured in refill European and American oak casks.
Nose: Pepper and smoke with hints of orange.
Palate: Full bodied lemon and peach, soon giving way to much more smoke
Finish: Long and dry with small hints of smokey tobacco .
