Appearance and Construction:
This cigar displays excellent construction, with a firm feel in the hand and no noticeable soft spots. The pre-light draw is easy, offering a preview of what’s to come. Upon lighting, it reveals its quality craftsmanship with a slow, consistent burn, forming a tight ash chimney. Though there was some unevenness in the burn, this did not significantly detract from the smoking experience.
Aroma and First Impressions:
On the nose, there’s a distinct sweetness dominated by warm, aromatic spices, notably allspice and clove. These notes immediately set the tone for a flavourful experience. Upon lighting, the initial smoke is mild yet aromatic, carrying the scent of applewood that complements the subtle spiciness.
Flavour Profile:
The first draws reveal a sweet, creamy vanilla flavor that coats the palate with smoothness, yet remains refined and well-balanced. The applewood smoke adds a light, natural sweetness that intertwines with the vanilla, giving the flavour profile a gentle depth. The smoke itself is notably silky and luxurious, gliding effortlessly across the palate without being overly heavy.
As the cigar progresses, the larger ring gauge allows for a slower burn, helping to draw out the more subtle layers of flavor. The mild spice from the initial allspice and clove gradually softens, letting the creamy vanilla take center stage. There’s a mellow complexity that unfolds with time, inviting contemplation as the flavours blend seamlessly into each other.
Burn and Draw:
While the cigar boasts a mostly excellent draw and firm construction, the burn was slightly uneven at times. Despite this minor flaw, the cigar maintained its overall balance and integrity, not requiring constant attention. The smoke output was consistent, offering a steady and enjoyable flow with each puff.
Finish:
The finish is smooth, leaving behind lingering notes of sweet vanilla and a faint touch of woodiness. The mild spice dissipates gently, leaving the palate with a clean, creamy sensation that invites you to revisit the experience. The overall balance of flavours, combined with the smooth draw, creates a satisfying and refined smoking experience.
Smoking Time:
Approximately 40 minutes.
Rating:
7/10. While the cigar delivered a delightful array of flavors and an enjoyable overall experience, the slight unevenness in the burn prevented it from reaching a higher score. Nonetheless, the creamy, sweet vanilla and applewood smoke, combined with the smooth, aromatic spice, made for a satisfying smoke worthy of savouring.
Nicely packaged in tube. However quite a singular flavour and harsh, although burnt evenly and well constructed. The Chinchilero Maduro is a similar size and price, but, in my opinion a much more enjoyable cigar
Very light draw, some loose packing in middle. Pleasant wrapper aroma, strong ash flavour, slight sting on the tongue and hard palate. Mellows in the middle, with a strong nicotine hit. Loose filling makes burn tricky. Flavours dont develop, some sweetness and quality of tobacco, and somehow, an enjoyable smoke. But not one for an occasion.
