    Hailing from a family with deep roots in the sake-making tradition, Ichiro Akuto is the visionary behind Chichibu Distillery, which he founded in 2008. Located in the small town of Chichibu, north of Tokyo, the distillery quickly garnered international acclaim for its artisanal approach and small-batch whiskies.
     
    Akuto has developed a reputation for experimenting with different cask finishes, including the use of red wine casks, which bring a unique layer of complexity to his whiskies.
     
    This whisky is a harmonious blend of sweet, fruity elements and savoury undertones, showcasing both the craftsmanship of the distillery and the unique influence of the red wine cask maturation.
     

  • Nose: Rich aromas of ripe red berries, honey, and toasted oak, interwoven with delicate spice notes.

    Palate: The palate is full-bodied and velvety, revealing layers of dark fruits, caramel, and a touch of chocolate, all enhanced by the tannic structure imparted by the red wine cask.

    Finish: A gentle earthiness from the oak adds depth, while the finish is long and warming, with lingering hints of vanilla and red fruit sweetness
