Now discontinued the 16 year old Highland Park was rarely seen out of Travel Retail.
Noted whisky writer, Michael Jackson, has described Highland Park as “The greatest all-rounder in the world of malt whisky.”
The Orkney islands themselves, must partly be accountable for something of the uniqueness of Highland Park, through the surrounding ocean, the local peat and the Orkney spring water.
Please note as this is a vintage whisky, conditions of bottle/label and liquid level can vary.
Nose: Malty, nutty, biscuity, mixed dried fruit. Some creamy toffee and the faintest whiff of smoke.
Palate: More dried fruit – tea loaf? Sweet and bitter. Vaguely winey, too.
Finish: On the short side and somewhat tannic. Oxidisation? Faint smoke?
