Highland Oark Thor:
Nose: Along with a bit of dried fruit, there's a harmonious combination of maple sweet and a brininess to the dram though the intensity of it all is moderate.
Palate: A sweet smokiness continues with a little tropical fruit making an appearance.
Finish: The whisky finishes with cigar ash and peanut shells.
Highland Park Loki:
Nose: Vanilla Skyr (Icelandic dairy product); honey comb; marzipan; cloves; nutmeg; almond milk.
Palate: Delightful full-bodied maltiness with a distinctly Northern profile; creamy caramel; nougat; marzipan once more; white chocolate; café latte with cinnamon.
Finish: Mid-tongue moves to front position (near the tip) and lasts quite long there; a tingle of nutmeg; honey suckle; ginger; and finally all-spice with a hint of clove cigarette on the death.
Highland Park Freya:
Nose: A fruity and floral profile, you would be advised not to write this whisky off as a delicate flower.
Palate: There is a wonderful balance between the fruity (think peaches and cream) and the spicy sweet notes with just a dusting of the peaty smoke added to the mix.
Finish: Brings a a little salty tang and spicy, woody quality to the party. Adding water will intensify these notes, but will also provide a soft ending rather than a tighter, more astringent one.
Highland Park Odin:
Nose: A fierce spice kicks things off as cinnamon and nutmeg rises. Behind the spice lays toasted walnuts smouldered with pulsating explosions of smoke.
Palate: A huge, powerful palate draws on the complexity of Odin’s character. Layers of peat and dense oak combines with rich charred walnuts.
Finish: Throughout is a subtle sweetness, sharing the knowledge of well-seasoned sherry wines. Plums and soft fruit disappear as the peaty embers glow into a smoky finale.
