Distilled at the Glenallachie distillery in Speyside, this release was bottled exclusively for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival 2023.
The 17-year-old exclusively bottled for the Spirit of Speyside Festival – was aged in a pipe that previously held premium Ruby Port: a youthful, more vibrant style.
Made from local Portuguese grape varieties, Ruby Port’s flavour profile is full-bodied and fruity, which is why the resulting whisky is “abundant in juicy oranges, sweet strawberries and maraschino cherries”.
This expression was distilled in 2005. There were just 643 bottles produced at a strength of 55.9% ABV, free from chill filtration and artificial colouring.
Nose: Notes of ginger, pink grapefruit and heather honey, with hints of truffle oil, pecan and strawberry jam.
Palate: Bursts of opal fruits, dried mango and butterscotch.
Finish: Followed by toffee apples, hazelnuts and ginger, with notes of cinnamon and raisin on the finish.
