A rare, unusual shaped bottle of the Gilbey's blend.
Spey Royal was launched following the takeover of James Catto & Co. by W & A Gilbey in 1916.
The group, which owned Glen Spey, Knockando and Strathmill distilleries, eventually merged in 1962 with United Wine Traders to form International Distillers and Vintners (now Diageo).
An Italian Import, is it estimated this bottle goes back to the 1960s.
Please note as this is a vintage whisky, conditions of bottle/label and liquid level can vary.
Nose: Caramel and old florals. There's a grain component here it and a twist of citrus.
Palate: Gentle cream, thick with sweet tones. As it wanes there's a defined smoke to it - cask smoke; peat and oak chips.
Finish: Smoke continues, with vanilla.
