Raised in Cuba and steeped in the rich tradition of the Fernandez cigar legacy, A.J. produces unparalleled premium cigars in Esteli, Nicaragua. Ensuring superior quality, the day-to-day operations are managed under the watchful eye of A.J. with assistance from the rest of his extended family.
A.J. is a family-oriented cigar company based in Miami, Florida. All cigars were blended by A.J. for his personal portfolio and each brand is a unique smoking experience, a testament to A.J’s talent as a tobacco grower and blender. All components of each blend are selected based on strength, aroma and flavour in order to achieve a smooth and balanced smoking experience.
A.J. is truly a master of the fine art of balancing a cigar, always finding that perfect sweet spot of richness and flavour.
Strategically located within the rich and fertile grounds of Nicaragua, AJ has made huge investments all throughout the country in order to produce his very own tobacco from all the major growing regions. A.J. owns and operates 2 cigar factories in Nicaragua. Tabacalera AJ Fernandez de Nicaragua, SA is located in the heart of tobacco country in Estelí, Nicaragua and the San Lotano factory is located 70 km north in Totogalpa.
These 2 factories allow A.J to craft over 100,000 cigars per day all by hand. The artisans that put together the blends and form each cigar we get to enjoy do so employing time honoured methods that have been handed down to AJ from generations past.
DORADO
This release in the New World Series provides a journey inspired by one of the world’s greatest tobacco growing regions. The all Nicaraguan blend is mostly from A.J. Fernandez’ Dorado farm, which he aptly named due to its golden texture and taste.
The New World Dorado consists primarily of tobacco from the Fernandez Dorado farm in Esteli. According to AJ Fernandez, the soil on the farm has a golden hue which is unusual as most of the earth in Esteli tends to be an ashen shade of dark grey.
This golden appearance of the soil inspired the name as the word dorado means ‘golden’ in Spanish. The Dorado farm is only five years old and the New World Dorado brand uses tobacco from its first harvest in 2017.
New World Dorado's all Nicaraguan blend is made up of a Sun Grown Habano wrapper and Criollo 98 binder which are both from the Dorado farm, and while there's some tobacco in the filler from two other tobacco fields - one in Condega and a different farm in Esteli - the rest of the filler blend incorporates leaf from the Dorado plantation. Made at the AJ Fernadez San Lotano factory, all the cigars are box pressed.

"This plantation is only five years old and the tobacco here comes from its maiden harvest, but the results have been impressive. Each puff is rich with layers of caramel, orange peel, nuts and espresso..."
