The moment I slipped this out of the cellophane, I was hit with a rich, smooth chocolate aroma that immediately made it feel far more indulgent than its price suggested.
It lit easily and, with my usual V cut, the draw was excellent with just the right amount of resistance. The first third gave me chocolate, oats and cereal notes, all very smooth and easy going.
One thing worth mentioning is that this cigar produces a lot of smoke. Even while resting in the ashtray it continued happily smoking away, so it is certainly not shy in that department.
Construction was excellent. The burn remained exceptionally even and the long filler produced a very impressive ash that held on far longer than I expected.
The flavour profile did not change dramatically between the first and second thirds. Some people will appreciate that consistency while others may prefer something that develops more noticeably as it burns. Personally, I found the profile enjoyable enough that the lack of major changes did not bother me.
At around £17 it is not the cheapest cigar on the shelf, but the quality, construction and overall smoking experience make it very good value. This is exactly the sort of cigar I could see becoming a regular fixture in the humidor and one I would happily smoke again.
