The first and only release from Scotland's Dark Matter Distillers, Dark Matter Spiced Rum.
Created in Banchory by two brothers, Jim and John Ewen, Dark Matter Spiced Rum is a molasses-based rum which features full-bodied notes of long pepper, fresh ginger, green peppercorns and allspice.
The taste equivalent of warping into a liquid black hole but without every atom in your body being crushed to an infinitely small point.
Nose: Peppercorn, sweet & sour pork and balsamic vinegar. Palate: Chewy with ginger and yet more peppercorn. A kick of chilli, plum and raisins. Comment: Brilliant. So intense in flavour but there are so many possibilities we don't even know where to start.
Dark matter spiced rum is very different to the previous spiced rum that I have sampled. The first thing I noticed was the overwhelming smell of ginger and pepper. The taste is much the same, lots of ginger and black pepper. This makes it a very spicy rum. I sampled this mixed with cola and neat, and neat is definitely the way to go. To get it down I needed to take swigs more than sips. The finish is very hot and long. This rum is an acquired taste, definitely worth a try if you're a fan on stronger fiery spiced rum. - Connor of Turmeaus Norfolk
