  • Dalwhinnie is derived from the Gaelic word for 'meeting place'. Built originally at the crossroads of cattle-drovers trails, it is now near the junction of the A9 to Inverness and the A889 to Fort William.

Peat and fresh water are in abundance in this area with the main water source the loch at Doire-Uaine.

The distillery at Dalwhinnie is the highest in Scotland situated at just over 1000 feet!

Jim Murray awarded this Dalwhinnie a score of 95 points in his Whisky Bible, making this whisky excellent value for money.

Elegant, smooth and medium-bodied, this Dalwhinnie part of Diageo's Classic Malt range!

  • Nose: Mellow, soft and lasting flavours of heather, honey-sweetness.

Palate: Vanilla continues with deeper citrus-fruit flavours and hints of malted bread.

Finish: Long and lingering starting with a sweetness, but giving way to smoke, peat and malt.

  • sublime stuff; a curious mixture of coke smoke and peat-reek wafts teasingly over the gently honied malt. A hint of melon offers some fruit but the caressing malt stars; that rarest of combinations: at once silky and malt intense, yet at the same time peppery and tin-hat time for the tastebuds, but the silk wins out and a sheen of barley sugar coats everything, soft peat included; some cocoa and coffee cannot be controlled' a malt it is hard to decide whether to drink or bath in: I suggest you do both. One of the most complete mainland malts of them all. Know anyone who reckons they dont like whisky? Give them a glass of this - thats them cured. Oh, if only the average masterpiece could be this good.

From the highest distillery in Scotland this malt remains a marvel, always classy, never overpowering. This scotch is a delight to drink, smooth and great sipping with a cigar. It has amazing flavours, ones that come back around when you're not expecting it, truly beautiful!
